Lot of 3 foreign bayonets and 2 fighting knives, including: 1) British M1907 pattern bayonet. Blade measures 17" with an overall length of 21 13/16". Mfg. markings on left side of ricasso are illegible, with various British proofs marked on the right. Right side of the pommel is stamped "T/ 5 S U P/ 13". Blade exhibits a matte gray finish, with bluing present on the ricasso, straight crossguard, and pommel. 2-piece plain wood grip scales. Complete with brown leather Australian scabbard with blued steel fittings, marked "MANGROVITE '42" on the leather body. CONDITION: blade is good, retaining the majority of its matte gray finish, showing scattered areas of age related discoloration. Blued parts show some wear and thinning, with scattered spots of light surface oxidation. Grip scales show scattered marks and impressions, with a chip present on both panels. Scabbard shows general wear, with scattered areas of light to mild crazing. Metal fittings showing mild to moderate pitting beneath the bluing. 2) French M1886 Lebel spike bayonet. Blade measures 20 1/2" with an overall length of 25 1/8". Left side of quillon/guard is marked with the S# and 2 encircled "P" inspector proofs. Blade and quillon crossguard are polished in-the-white. 1-piece alloy handle. Complete with matching blued steel scabbard. CONDITION: blade retains a mostly bright appearance, showing scattered spots and small patches of dark surface oxidation. Crossguard has faded to a gray patina, showing scattered spots of age related discoloration and light pitting overall. Alloy handle exhibits scattered marks and scratches, but is otherwise sound. Scabbard retains fair amounts of its original blue finish, showing wear fading to gray patina, scattered spots and small patches of surface oxidation and pitting, as well as several dents. 3) Swedish M1896 blade bayonet. Blade measures 8 1/16" with an overall length of 13 1/8". Left side of the ricasso is marked with a Crown/(ANCHOR) between "FJ" and "AB." above "074", with a Swedish crown marked on the right side. Ricasso markings are repeated on the top of the guard. 1-piece knurled steel handle. Left side of the guard is marked "8/ I9" followed by "No 353". Complete with non-matching blued steel scabbard, fitted with a bayonet retaining clip that is stamped with the Swedish national emblem of 3 crowns. CONDITION: blade retains a mostly bright appearance, exhibiting scattered spots of mild pitting and areas of age related discoloration. Guard and handle retain fair amounts of their original blue, showing areas of wear that are fading to gray patina. Scabbard is good, showing some light wear and superficial handling marks, a few small dents, as well as some scattered spots of light surface oxidation. 4) Post-war mfg. Fairbairn Sykes pattern fighting knife. Blade measures 6 15/16" with an overall length of 11 5/8". Side of the blade is marked with a lightly etched "J. NOWILL & SONS/ SHEFFIELD ENGLAND/ ESTABLISHED A.D. 1700". Side of ribbed alloy grip is marked with a raised crossed flags proof and Star/D proof. Blade exhibits a blue finish, with the crossguard and grip exhibiting a black enamel finish. Complete with black leather sheath. CONDITION: blade retains the majority of its original blue finish, showing some wear that is fading to gray patina, with scattered spots of light to mild surface oxidation. Blade exhibits a patch of mild to moderate oxidation by the address. Crossguard and handle show scattered spots of flaking overall. Sheath remains malleable, showing scattered handling marks. 5) Unmarked Fairbairns Sykes pattern fighting knife. Blade measures 6 15/16" with an overall length of 11 1/2". Blade has been cleaned and is in-the-white. Steel crossguard with grooved copper handle. Complete with black leather sheath featuring a black enamel finished brass drag and elastic retention band. CONDITION: blade is good as cleaned, showing some traces of original finish, with some pinprick spots of light surface oxidation. Guard shows flaking overall. Copper handle has acquired a darkened patina. Sheath is good, with scattered handling marks. (02-24148/MLW). NON-GUN. $400-600.
