This lot consists of the following bayonets: 1) Sommerda 71/84 Mauser Bayonet. 1888 dated. Crossguard & scabbard have same 38th Infantry Regiment unit marking. Crossguard marked "HESCU" & one of wooden handles marked "59/465/CO" possibly Canadian markings, as Quebec home guard used surplus 71/84 rifles. CONDITION: metal parts of bayonet & scabbard turning gray with light pitting, oxidation staining & some dings. Grips show some dings & age related wear. Scabbard shows denting, crazing, cracking & some separation of joint. 2) German 84/98 Sawback Bayonet. Made by Samson Werk. Scabbard & leather frog present. CONDITION: blade shows some light oxidation, some dings & fading to gray. Other metal parts are a dull gray patina with oxidation & pitting. Handles show some dings & staining. Frog shows cracking, chipping, crazing & age wear. Scabbard shows scattered flaking & oxidation. 3) 84/98 Sawback Bayonet. Erfurt made & 1915 dated. Scabbard, frog & Portapee all present. CONDITION: metal parts of bayonet are a gray color with some light pitting & oxidation. Grips show an old refinish with added finish, some gouges & dings. Scabbard shows some denting, oxidation & is an overall gray color. Frog & Portapee show scattered age wear & some crazing. 4)WKC German Sawback Dress Bayonet. Blade has WKC marking. CONDITION: blade shows oxidation & some pitting. Other metal parts & scabbard show notable flaking black paint, oxidation & pitting. Grip panels show handling & checkering wear. 5) Weyersbeg Sawback Dress Bayonet. Chrome finish. Bone handles. Scabbard, frog & Portapee all present. CONDITION: metal parts of bayonet show scattered flaking & oxidation. Handles show dings & handling wear. Scabbard shows some flaking & oxidation. Portapee & frog show age wear, crazing & flaking.
