Lot of 5 primarily German WWII dress bayonets, including: 1) German Model 1938 dress bayonet. Blade measures 9 3/4" with an overall length of 14 1/2". Left side of the ricasso is marked with a C. Gustav Spitzer mfg. marking. Metal components exhibit a plated finish. Downward hooked quillon with "eagle head" pommel. 2-piece checkered black grip panels. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: black enamel finished steel scabbard. CONDITION: blade retains a mostly bright appearance, showing some bubbling, scratches, and spots of light surface oxidation. Guard and pommel showing spots of bubbling and flaking, with some scattered handling marks. Grip panels show some smoothing to the checkering, with intentionally cut sections present on the rear edges. Blade is loose, but does not come free. Scabbard retains fair amounts of its black enamel finish, showing wear that is fading to gray and brown patinas, with light surface oxidation overall. 2) Etched German Model 1938 dress bayonet. Blade measures 9 3/4" with an overall length of 14 5/8". Left side of the blade is etchd "Fur Erinnerung/ an meine Dienstzeit/ bei der fliegertruppe", with a Puma mfg. marking marked on the ricasso. Metal components exhibit a plated finish overall. Downward hooked quillon with "eagles head" pommel. 2-piece checkered black synthetic grip panels. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: black enamel finished steel scabbard. CONDITION: blade is good, showing pinprick bubbling/flaking, scattered scratches, and some spots of hardened grease. Center of blade face has been ground and buffed, likely to remove a former nick. Guard and pommel show light bubbling and flaking. Grips show light to mild smoothing, but are otherwise sound. Scabbard shows scattered spots of flaking and light surface oxidation. 3) German Model 1938 dress bayonet. Blade measures 9 3/4" with an overall length of 14 1/2". Left side of ricasso is marked with a Gustav Spitzer mfg. marking. Metal components exhibit a plated finish overall. Downward hooked quillon with "eagle head" pommel. 2-piece checkered black synthetic grip panels. CONDITION: blade retains a bright appearance, showing scattered spots and areas of hardened grease, with a few small spots of light wear and flaking. Guard and pommel show some superficial handling marks, with a few spots of light flaking, but otherwise retain a mostly bright appearance. Grip panels show light smoothing. 4) German Fireman's dress dagger. Blade measures 9 13/16" with an overall length of 14 5/8". Right side of the ricasso is marked with an E.u.F. Horster mfg. marking. Metal components exhibit a plated finish overall. "S" guard with "eagle head" pommel. 2-piece checkered black synthetic grip panels. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: black enamel finished steel scabbard with unmarked black leather frog. CONDITION: blade retains a bright appearance, exhibiting some light scratches, a few small nicks to the blade face, as well as a couple of very small spots of flaking at the point. Guard and pommel exhibit scattered light bubbling and flaking, with some superficial handling marks and dings. Grips show light smoothing. Scabbard shows some scattered spots of flaking and some superficial handling marks. Frog remains malleable, showing some areas of age related crazing. 5) German WWII K98 bayonet. Blade measures 9 7/8" with an overall length of 15 1/8". Left side of the ricasso is stamped "PACK&S", with the S# "2849/ g" marked on the right. Spine is stamped "39". Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall. 2-piece grooved brown synthetic grip panels. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: matching blued steel scabbard with brown leather frog. Rear of frog is marked "G. Schaub/ Roreubura.F./ 1938". CONDITION: blade retains the majority of its blue finish, showing light to mild scabbard contact wear with some light pitting present at and around the point. Guard and pommel show mild wear, with scattered spots of light to mild surface oxidation. Grip panels show a few scattered handling marks, but otherwise remain sound. Scabbard has worn to a mottled gray/brown patina, with spots of light surface oxidation. Frog shows areas of age related cracking and crazing, but otherwise remains sound. (02-25323/MLW).
