Lot consists of 6 foreign military bayonets, including: 1) 1 Imperial German M1898/05 bayonet. Blade measures 14 1/2", with an overall length of 19 11/16". Left side of ricasso is marked "CARL EICKHORN/ SOLINGEN", with a crown over "W/ 16" on the spine. Down-swept hooked quillon with 2-piece grooved wood grip panels. Complete with black leather scabbard. CONDITION: blade is good, showing scattered spots of light pitting and age related discoloration overall, with some striations from sharpening. Steel fittings exhibit a mottled gray patina, with light to mild pitting overall. Grips show scattered marks and impressions, but otherwise remain sound. Scabbard shows scattered marks from handling and storage, as well as scattered spots of crazing. 2) Imperial German M1898/05 Sawback bayonet. Blade measures 14 1/2" with an overall length of 19 11/16". Left side of the ricasso is marked "ANKER-WERKE/ BIELEFELD". Down-swept hooked quillon with 2-piece grooved wood grip panels. Complete with steel scabbard marked "P.30.E.B.4.206." at the throat. CONDITION: blade is good, exhibiting a gray patina, with scattered spots and patches of light to mild pitting and age related discoloration, with some striations from prior sharpening. Steel fittings exhibit a dark gray patina with dark surface oxidation. Grips show scattered marks and impressions, but otherwise remain sound. Scabbard exhibits a mottled dark gray patina with scattered spots of dark surface oxidation. 3) German conversion French Model 1866 Chassepot bayonet. Blade measures 22 11/16" with an overall length of 27 1/2". Spine is engraved with markings denoting St. Etienne mfg. in 1889. Left side of the crossguard is marked with the original French S# and a German unit marking "57.II.II.4.169.", followed by French arsenal inspector proofs. Up-swept hooked quillon with grooved brass handle. Complete with Imperial German converted and proofed black painted steel scabbard. CONDITION: blade is very good, retaining a bright appearance and showing some scattered spots of light to mild surface oxidation and age related discoloration. Crossguard exhibits a dark gray patina. Brass handle has acquired a pleasing mellow patina. Scabbard shows flaking to its painted finish overall. 4) French Model 1874 Gras bayonet. Blade measures 20 9/16" with an overall length of 25 3/8". Spine is engraved with the mfg. in script, followed by the year of mfg. "1878". Crossguard is marked with the S# and French arsenal inspector proofs. Up-swept hooked quillon and 2-piece plain wood grip panels, with brass pommel. Complete with non-matching blued steel scabbard. CONDITION: blade is very good, showing some spots of light pitting and age related discoloration. Crossguard exhibits a dark gray patina. Grips show scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, with the left panel exhibiting a faint crack that runs from the top to the bottom. Brass pommel has acquired a pleasing mellow patina. Scabbard retains the majority of its arsenal blue finish, showing light surface oxidation and a few spots of light wear and thinning overall. 5) Imperial Japanese Type 30 bayonet. Blade measures 15 5/8" with an overall length of 20 1/16". Right side of ricasso is marked with the Nagoya arsenal insignia. Up-swept hooked quillon with 2-piece smooth wood grips. Complete with steel scabbard. CONDITION: blade is very good with some spots of light pitting and age related discoloration. Crossguard and pommel have been cleaned in-the-white, exhibiting light to mild pitting and spots of age related discoloration. Grips show scattered marks and minor impressions. Scabbard exhibits a dark gray patina, with varying degrees of pitting overall. 6) Imperial Japanese Type 30 bayonet. Blade measures 15 5/8" with an overall length of 20 1/16". Right side of the ricasso is marked with the Toyoda Jidoshoki Seisakusho arsenal insignia. Salt blued blade, with black enamel finish straight crossguard and pommel. 2-piece smooth wood grips. Complete with black enamel finished steel scabbard. CONDITION: blade is very good, retaining the vast majority of its original blue finish, showing some nicks to the cutting edge. Black enamel parts show some bubbling and flaking. Grips show scattered marks and minor impressions, with the right panel exhibiting a small crack stemming from the pommel. Scabbard shows scattered spots of flaking, but otherwise is good. (02-24590-1/MLW). NON-GUN. $700-1,100.
