SCABBARDS. 1) Model 1905 bayonet mfg. by Springfield Armory in 1911. Left side of ricasso is marked "SA" above a flaming ordnance bomb and "1911" with "US/ 484597" marked on the right. Left side fuller is inscribed "Jesse V WestBURGH", with the same inscribed in the right side fuller in cursive. Blade has been cleaned at one time. Rock Island Armory canvas and leather scabbard. CONDITION: very good with the blade exhibiting some scattered spots of light pitting and dark discoloration. Blade face exhibits a small nicK, but otherwise is very good overall. Crossguard and pommel exhibit moderate wear and oxidation. Wood grip shows some minor marks and impressions from handling and storage. Scabbard exhibits some wear and discoloration with crazing present on the leather tip. 2) Model 1905 bayonet mfg. by Springfield Armory in 1911. Left side of ricasso is marked "SA" over a flaming ordnance bomb and "1911", with "US/ 496949" marked on the right. Blade exhibits a blued finish. Canvas and leather scabbard. CONDITION: very good with the blade retaining the majority of its arsenal blue finish. Blade face exhibits several knicks. Crossguard and pommel exhibit thinning and wear through to gray patina. Grip shows some scattered marks and impressions, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. Scabbard exhibits some wear with areas of discoloration overall. 3) Model 1917 bayonet originally mfg. in 1913 as a Pattern 1913 bayonet by Remington and subsequently redesignated as a Model 1917 bayonet. The left side of the ricasso is marked "1913" over "9 17" and a Remington mfg. mark, with a crossed out British proof above "U.S." on the right. Leather scabbard. CONDITION: blade retains a gray patina, with some scattered spots of discoloration. Crossguard and pommel exhibit wear and thinning with areas of surface oxidation. Grip show a few scattered marks and impressions, but is otherwise good overall. Scabbard exhibits wear and scattered spots of crazing. 4) Model 1917 bayonet originally mfg. in 1913 as a Pattern 1913 bayonet and subsequently redesignated as a Model 1917 bayonet. Left side of ricasso is marked "1913" above "8-16" and "W", with British proofs on the right. Blued finish. Leather scabbard. CONDITION: blade exhibits wear and thinning to its blue finish that shows through to gray patina. Crossguard and pommel exhibit a gray patina. Grip shows some scattered marks and impressions, but otherwise is good. Scabbard exhibits wear and some small scattered spots of crazing. 5) Model 1917 bayonet mfg. by Remington in 1917. Left side of ricasso is marked "1917" over Remington's mfg. mark with an eagle head over "26" (indicating arsenal refurbishment) and a flaming ordnance bomb over "US" on the right. Blade exhibits a parkerized finish. M-1917 scabbard marked "V Z M". CONDITION: good with blade exhibiting some scattered spots of discoloration and some pitting beneath the finish. Crossguard and pommel exhibiting pitting and retain a dark gray patina. Grip shows some scattered handling marks, but is otherwise good. Scabbard shows some marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. 6) Vietnam era Model 1917 bayonet. Top of crossguard is marked "CA" and US M1917", with a white boxed eagle ink stamp. Parkerized finish with 2-piece checkered black plastic grips. M-1917 scabbard marked "V Z M". CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their arsenal parkerized finish, exhibiting some wear that shows through to silvering overall. Grips show some scattered handling marks and smoothing, but otherwise are good. Scabbard shows some scattered marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable.
