Lot of desirable bullet molds and capping tools, including: 1) Sharps New Model 1863 .52 caliber bullet mold. Right leg is marked "NEW MODEL 1863" vertically above a horizontal "52". Iron construction with single cavity bullet mold and sprue trimmer. CONDITION: good, with metal having faded to a gray patina, exhibiting patches of mild pitting and age related discoloration. 2) Burnside Model 1864 .54 caliber bullet mold. No markings present. Iron construction with single conical bullet mold cavity. CONDITION: good, with metal having faded to a gray patina, exhibiting scattered spots and patches of light to mild pitting, as well as scattered handling marks and impressions. 3) Colt Model 1860 .44 caliber bullet mold. Front of sprue cutter plate is marked "COLT'S/ PATENT". Side of the right block is marked "44H" above a "B" proof. Iron construction with blued finish and dual cavity molds (ball and conical bullet). Ball mold measures approx. 0.4585". CONDITION: metal retains fair to good amounts of its original blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear fading to gray patina, scattered patches of dark mild surface oxidation, as well as scattered handling marks and impressions. 4) Colt .44 caliber bullet mold. Front of sprue cutter plate is marked "COLT'S/ PATENT". Side of right block is stamped with an "H", followed by a mostly visible "44H". Iron construction with dual cavity molds (ball and conical bullet). Ball mold measures approx. 0.5600". CONDITION: metal has faded to a mottled gray patina, exhibiting scattered patches of light to mild surface oxidation and pitting, with scattered marks and impressions present overall. 5) Colt (apparent) Model 1849 Pocket .31 caliber bullet mold. Front of sprue cutter plate is marked "COLT'S/ PATENT". Blocks are unmarked. Iron construction with 2 cavity molds (ball and conical bullet). CONDITION: metal has faded to a mottled gray patina, exhibiting patches / areas of light to mild pitting and age related discoloration, as well as scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage. 6) x6 U.S. Model 1879 Trapdoor combination tools. Exterior flat of main bodies are marked "US./ MOD. 1879". Steel construction. Tools consist of 2 screwdrivers, a mainspring clamp, and band spring punch. CONDITION: combination tools exhibit varying degrees of wear, with scattered spots of light to mild surface oxidation and pitting. 7) U.S. Model 1855 musket combination tool. Iron construction, featuring 3 screwdriver heads and a nipple wrench. CONDITION: metal has faded to a dark gray patina, exhibiting consistent dark oxidation, with scattered patches of adhesive and an unidentified substance. 8) Unidentified percussion combination tool. Iron construction consisting of a helical auger, screwdriver head, and nipple removal wrench on the base. CONDITION: metal has faded to a dark gray / brown patina, exhibiting consistent moderate pitting overall. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of John "Jack" Dhooghe. (02-25567/MLW). NON-GUN. $400-600.
