Lot of primarily U.S. military helmets, including: 1) U.S. WWI era (1917) Brodie helmet. OD sawdust textured painted exterior, with brown leather liner, and riveted khaki canvas chin straps. Interior of rim is stamped "8B". Liner appears to be marked "Pvt. H. HANTZ" on one flap, with "HANTZ" on another. One flap exhibits illegible text. CONDITION: good, with the helmet retaining the majority of its painted exterior, exhibiting scattered superficial handling marks, with areas of oxidation present on the rim. Left side of helmet exhibits two apparent bullet strikes, neither of which passed through the metal. Liner shows age related wear and crazing, but otherwise remains sound. 2) British WWI (Mark I) Brodie helmet. Helmet features a gray painted exterior, with chin strap bales retained via split rivets. Liner and chin strap are absent, with the chin strap having been replaced with a handmade cloth replacement. CONDITION: helmet retains large amounts of its painted finish, exhibiting scattered spots and areas of oxidation overall. 3) U.S. WWII era Civil Defense Air Raid Warden helmet. White painted exterior with encircled triangle insignia painted on front. Blue canvas liner and chin strap. CONDITION: helmet retains fair to good amounts of its painted exterior, exhibiting flaking and oxidation overall. 4) U.S. WWII era Civil Defense helmet. White painted exterior with canvas liner. CONDITION: paint has faded to a brown coloration, exhibiting areas of flaking and oxidation overall. Liner and chip strap are torn in several places. 5) U.S. WWII M1 helmet. Textured OD painted exterior, with front seam rim and fixed bale chin strap. Complete with synthetic liner. No identifying mfg. are visible. CONDITION: helmet retains large amounts of its painted exterior, exhibiting scattered marks from handling and storage, as well as some light surface oxidation. Rim shows scattered flaking overall. Interior exhibits varying degrees of oxidation. Canvas straps on liner has torn in several places. 5) U.S. Navy WWII Mark II Talker helmet. Deck blue painted cork textured exterior, with brown leather chin strap. CONDITION: helmet retains the majority of its painted exterior, exhibiting some flaking (primarily around the edges of the rim) and scattered handling marks overall. Chin strap remains intact and malleable. 6) U.S. M1 helmet. Smooth green painted exterior, with front seam rim and swivel bale chin strap. Synthetic liner with woodland camouflage cover. CONDITION: helmet is good, showing scattered spots of flaking and oxidation (primarily around the rim). Liner is good and remains intact. Cover shows some light wear, but otherwise remains sound.
