Lot of primarily WWI / WWII era trench art, including: 1) WWII era ash tray fashioned from a 105mm M14 Type I training casing, fitted with an inert .50 BMG rnd. in the center of the tray. Base of 105mm rd. is double stamped "105MM M14 TYPE I" above lot information and production year of 1943". 2) Pair of brass candle sticks fashioned from USN Bofors 40mm MK 1 bases, .50 BMG cases, and an unidentified (slightly larger than .50 BMG) cartridge cases. Underside of Bofors 40mm bases are dated "7-42". 3) Inert .50 BMG rnd. fitted with a handmade brass blade on the projectile that loosely resembles a scimitar. Side of cartridge case is engraved "NEW GUINEA 1944". 3) .50 BMG cartridge case fashioned into a lighter with a faux brass projectile cover. Lighter is mounted on an acrylic base. 4) x2 Contemporary .50 BMG cartridge casings fashioned into bottle openers. 5) WWI / WWII era trench art ash tray. Tray is constructed of brass, featuring 4 (apparent) 8mm Mauser projectiles around the circumference. Center of tray is embossed with a brass depiction of the Reims Cathedral. 6) U.S. WWI trench art pendant fashioned from a .30-06 Springfield cartridge. A ring has been installed in the primer location, with a U.S. style eagle embossed on the front. Cartridge is fitted with an apparent period wood projectile. 7) x1 French 37-85 37mm Hotchkiss trench art cartridge cases. x1 casing (dated "4.18") embellished with a brass German "GOTT MIT UNS" (GOD WITH US) plate on the front, the other casing (dated "1.17") heavily embellished with texturing and a cross, with "FRANCE/ SUPPLY/ TRA" above a U.S. 7th Infantry Division insignia. 8) x1 Federal Laboratories approx. 37mm brass cartridge. Base is marked "FEBERAL LABORATORIES INC." above "PITTSBURGH. PA. U.S.A.". 9) GAU-8 Avenger 30mm API PGU-A/B dummy rd. Casing exhibits faint partially legible text on the side, with additional markings present on the underside of the base. Projectile exhibits a black enamel type finish and is marked "*HVM-15-44 55 30MM-322 *" at the neck of the casing. 10) WWII era trench art consisting of a German card calendar 2 projectiles (measuring 25mm) mounted on a small slab of granite. Calendar is missing various cards. 11) Eveready Daylo "bullet" flashlight. Brass construction with polished metal cap. 12) Hunter Bullet Lighter. Polished metal body with hinged brass cap. 13) Unidentified trench art consisting of a folder brass panel, featuring a "REPUBLIQUE" and "FRANCAISE" medallion on one side and "NAPOLEON III EMPEREUR" 1862 dated medallion on the obverse side. 14) Brass tank model comprised of primarily 7.62x51mm NATO cartridge cases. 15) Custom letter opener with handle comprised of a brass Weatherby .460 Magnum casing. Letter opener blade is mounted on a section of wood, which protrudes from the neck of the casing. 16) Custom cross pen comprised of 2 brass cartridge cases. 17) Custom faux pen comprised of 2 South African 7.62x51mm NATO casings. Non-function brass tip. 18) Winchester cast iron wall mounted match holder. CONDITION: metal components exhibit varying degrees of age related discoloration and handling marks, with all appearing to remain sound. PROVENANCE: Norman Olliff Estate. (02-25717/MLW).
