1) Converted Remington Rolling Block Rifle. Cal. 45 Colt. NSN. Bbl. 22". Crude brass blade front sight. Ladder rear sight graduated to 1000yds. Remington Rolling Block rifle converted to 45 Long Colt that should not be used with smokeless powder. Walnut stock set with bottom mounted sling swivels. Replacement ramrod present. CONDITION: stock set has old refinish with a spliced bandkeeper section on right side of forend, some chipping, a couple forend cracks, scattered dings, handling marks & finish wear. Metal has a silvery-gray cleaned appearance with scattered dings, wood finish overrun, oxidation, pitting & some frame scratches. Action functions properly when hand cycled. Good bore with strong rifling & some scattered oxidation. (01-28408/MJC).
2) Peabody Martini Henry Sporting Rifle. Cal. 577/450. NSN. Bbl. 28". Blade front sight. Ladder rear sight graduated to 1000yds. Left rear of bbl. has 577/450 cal marking. Left of action has Peabody's Patent marking over "Mechanical Guns. Co" marking. Right side of action has 1885 date with crown, Insect logo, "III" & "DERIV" markings. Blued finish. Checkered walnut stock with bottom mounted sling provisions. Right side of butt has strong "IMPERIAL GUN CY" roundel & "1871/1906" marking.
CONDITION: stock set has older added finish with some overrun on forend tip, a small crack behind action, scattered finish loss, dings & handling marks. Action is mostly a gray patina with notable pitting along trigger guard, scattered dings, oxidation & hand ling marks. Bbl. retains strong blue finish with overall fading to gray, some edge wear, handling marks, light pitting & oxidation along its length. Action functions properly when hand cycled. Very good bright bore with strong rifling. PROVENANCE: From the PMRB Collection. (01-28412/MJC). BOTH ANTIQUE. $700-1100 for both.
