This lot consists of the following military surplus rifles: 1) CHINESE MODEL 88 HANYANG BOLT ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 8x57 (8mm Mauser). S# 5A1368. Bbl. 29". Blade front sight. Tangent rear sight graduated to 2000m. Bayonet lug number appears to match, other visible numbers are mismatched. Receiver top has faint Hangyang marking & illegible date. Receiver markings have added white highlight paint. Hardwood stock set w/ bottom mounted sling swivels & leather sling. Right side of butt has large Chinese brand & a number. Replacement cleaning rod present. CONDITION: stock set has prominent crack behind upper tang extending into comb, a few other cracks, scattered dings, chips & handling wear. Metal is mostly a gray color w/ scattered pitting & oxidation w/ heavy pitting on buttplate. Poor bore w/ heavily worn rifling. (24-1337/MJC). 2) WWII ERA JAPANESE TYPE 38 BOLT-ACTION CARBINE WITH INTACT MUM. Cal. 6.5 Jap. S# 10504 Serial # matches on receiver, bolt, and bayonet lug. Receiver has an intact mum and type 38 characters on the ring, with a Nagoya Arsenal marking on the left rail. Ladder rear sight graduated to 2000 meters. Inverted V front sight with protective ears. Oval bolt knob. Checkered small tang safety knob. Cleaning rod and bayonet lug are present. Side sling swivels. Hardwood stock set with two-piece buttstock construction. Flat steel buttplate. CONDITION: entire rifle has had a restorative cleaning with a slight loss of wood, a softening of edges on the stock, and a considerable loss of finish on the metal. The metal is turning gray and has a notable amount of fine pitting throughout. Bore is turning dark with moderately worn lands. (24-1340/RW). BOTH CURIO. $400-600 for pair.
