OF "INFANT CUPID IN HIS CHAROIT PULLED BY PUTTI". 19th century. This fine figural gilt bronze depicts cupid with bow and arrow at the ready standing in his two tone chariot. The chariot being pulled and pushed by a group of five putti using woven leaf garland as the rope, all on an uneven rocky ground on a molded stepped gilt platform. Signed in the rocky ground at the very front of the chariot above the foundry mark of "Jollet & Cie...". SIZE: 13" h x 18 3/4" l x 8 1/2" w. CONDITION: brilliant, bright original surfaces with age appropriate wear. There is a screw in the back of the chariot that holds the garland and putti in place is absent. Very good overall. PROVENANCE: Private Southern New England Collection. (05-743/TG). $1,000-1,500.
