Cal. 22 S. S# 14309. Bbl. 3". Round blade front sight. Civil War era revolver made to catch up with demand Smith & Wesson couldn't fill. Brass frame. Nickel bbl. marked "MADE FOR SMITH & WESSON BY LOWELL ARMS CO. LOWELL, MASS". Left side of bbl. has what appears to be British proofs. Right of frame has what appears to be 1867 date. Smooth hardwood grips. CONDITION: grips have sanded appearance with added varnish, some chipping, cracks, dings & handling marks. Brass frame has a cleaned appearance with an added "278" paint number on bottom of grip frame, remnants of silver plated finish, some dings, oxidation & scratches. Other parts have cleaned appearance with clear markings, some pitting, dings & oxidation. Action is sluggish but functional when hand cycled. Bore shows scattered pitting & oxidation but good evident rifling. (01-28052/MJC). ANTIQUE. $800-1,200.
