Cal. 54. S# 421650. Bbl. 32". Bbl. is marked "LYMAN-MIDDLEFIELD-CONN / GREAT PLAINS RIFLE 54 / MADE IN ITALY / BLACK POWDER ONLY". Bbl. & breech plug have Italian proofs. Bbl. is marked on bottom left flat by forend tip w/ warnings & "INVESTARM SPA 25060 MARCHENO ITALY". Nice quality replica of an early percussion half stock plains rifle. Open sporting type rear sight. White bead front sight. Sights are mounted in standard 3/8" dovetail. Plain case colored lockplate. Furniture is blued steel. Double set triggers. Scroll trigger guard. Walnut stock w/ raised cheekpiece. Curved buttplate fastened by two wedges. Buttstock has been tastefully ornamented on right side around buttplate & toeplate as well as near the center w/ small headed brass tacks. Hardwood ramrod w/ brass tips threaded on one end is present. CONDITION: stock has light wear w/ scattered tiny handling marks. Metal retains most of its original blue finish, except breech plug, hammer & lockplate which have case colors. Good shiny bore w/ strong lands. Grooves have a lightly frosted appearance.
