LOCK. Cal. 54. S# 1900. Bbl. measures 10 1/16”. A total number of 4,096 M1805 pistols were produced at the Harper’s Ferry arsenal. This example is serial number "1900". Bbl. is proofed on the left side with eagle head over “P” & “US” in an oval. The serial number “1900" is stamped in front of the US proof. Pistol is reconversion to flint utilizing a non-Harper’s Ferry lock. Lock is unmarked and does not function correctly. Brass trigger guard, buttcap, side plate, nose band & entry thimble. There is an iron ramrod thimble that is atypical of M1805 pistols. There is a replacement brass tipped wooden ramrod below the iron rib under the bbl. This gun would be a fine restoration project for the Harper’s Ferry collector or possibly a cash of impossible to find original parts. CONDITION: iron has a dark gray overall patina. Brass has undoubtably been cleaned in the past but has begun to reacquire a mellow mustard patina. Lock occasionally holds both full and half cock but action needs some adjustment. Top jaw of cock is missing. Frizzen & spring need adjustment. Wood is generally solid but has a crack from the barrel channel to the barrel pin. There are minor losses around the lock and there is a small hole drill next to the rear side plate screw. (01-23159/BF). $1,500-2,000.
