Cal. 45-90. S# 170706. Bbl. 22" octagon with dovetailed bead plus factory elevator adjustable rear. Mfg. 1898 (1895-1915) in largest caliber offered; barrel lengths of 24" and 26". Straight gripped stock set with capped rifle forend and crescent buttplate. Barrel marked "Special Smokeless Steel" plus "MARLIN SAFETY" on top of receiver. CONDITION: good to very good overall appearance having light marks and thinning finish. Magazine tube has grey patina tone. Faded case colors barely visible. It seems that the barrel may be shortened, but spacing of dovetails and all work of the nature seem correctly proportioned. Stock set is good or slightly better with extra finish added; no compromising to dimensions. Buttplate has some spots of active oxidation. Very good bright bore with only a hint of light wear. PROVENANCE STATEMENT: Estate collection of Thomas F. Wolfinger. (01-22171/NW). ANTIQUE. $750-1,000.
