ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 40-60. S# 16735. Bbl is 24 3/4" octagon. German silver blade rocky mountain front sight with sporting rear sight. 2/3 length tubular mag. Blue and case colored finish. Action has factory engraving with circular vignettes of deer on both sides. Scenes are surrounded by arabesque scroll and straight line borders. Highlights of scroll continue to upper and lower receiver areas and top tang. Forearm and pistol grip stock of fancy European walnut with point pattern hand checkering and steel buttplate. Manufactured in 1888. CONDITION: Bbl retains 30% dull, faded blue showing handling marks. Mag tube has faded to brown showing series of small dents. Action has faded to silver, gray showing lightly visible case colors in protected areas only. Wood has worn finish and checkering showing numerous scratches, dents and marks. Sound action. Lightly pitted bore retains sound rifling. (01-26609/DS). ANTIQUE. $8,000-12,000.
