Cal. 32-40. S# 370282. Bbl. 20 1/8". Model 1893 lever action carbine mfg. by Marlin Firearms Co. The top of the bbl. is marked with Marlin's mfg. and patent information, with " SPECIAL SMOKELESS STEEL " marked on the left, and the cal. designation marked over the top of the breech. Top of receiver is marked "MARLIN SAFETY", with "MODEL/ 1893" marked on the upper receiver tang. Plain smooth wood straight grip buttstock and forend. Lyman ivory beaded blade front sight with adj. ladder rear sight. Top of receiver has been drilled and tapped and is currently fitted with a contemporary Skinner aperture rear sight. Upper receiver tang has also been drilled and tapped at one time. CONDITION: receiver retains traces of its original factory case color hardened finish, with the balance exhibiting a gray patina that shows scattered mild surface oxidation, scattered mild pitting, and some areas of discoloration. Bbl. and mag. tube exhibit wear and thinning that show through to pleasing gray and brown patinas, with the bbl. exhibiting mild surface oxidation overall. Bore is bright, exhibiting consistent mild pitting and retaining good rifling throughout. Wood furniture shows scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. (24-929/MLW). CURIO. $500-750.
