Cal. 44-40. S# B7995. Bbl. 24 1/4". Model 94 lever action short rifle, mfg. by Marlin Firearms Co. in 1941. Top of the bbl. is marked with Marlin's 2-line address and patent information, with the cal. designation stamped over the breech. Underside of the receiver is marked with the S#, with "Marlin/ MODEL 94" marked on the tang. Bbl. and mag. tube exhibit a blue finish. Plain wood straight grip buttstock and forend have been sanded and revarnished at one time. Butt is fitted with a carbine-style buttplate. Marble's 37W ivory beaded blade front sight, with U-notch rear sight. CONDITION: receiver and lever exhibit a mottled gray patina, with some light pitting and surface oxidation present overall. Bbl. and mag. tube retain good amounts of their original blue finish, exhibiting wear and thinning overall that shows through to a pleasing brown patina. Buttplate has been lacquered, exhibiting dark pitting with some oxidative etching overall. Very bright bore, exhibiting scattered spots of pitting while retaining strong rifling throughout. Wood furniture shows some scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, with the buttstock exhibiting a crack that stems from the left side of the upper receiver tang. (24-1765/MLW).
