1) KNIGHTS OF SHERWOOD FOREST. This sword measures 39" overall with a 29 3/4" blade with a raised medial ridge. The blade is etched with foliate and decorative devices, including a large stag's head and a 5" panel with the name "M.E. Gillen." The ricasso is etched "J. LUKERS 133. GRAND S. N.Y." Gilded brass hilt with a knight's head pommel. Gilded brass scabbard. CONDITION: sword generally shows light wear with some loss of gilded finish. (02-23396/BF). 2) KNIGHTS TEMPLAR. A good example of a Masonic Knights Templar sword, measuring 38 1/4" overall with a 30" blade, showing a raised medial ridge. The blade is etched with various masonic, foliate, and foliate motifs, including a 6" panel with the name "Fred J. Milligan." Silver-plated hilt with a decorated bone grip. Plated scabbard with silver-plated mounts. CONDITION: sword shows moderate wear overall, with heavy tarnish to the silver plate and tight drying cracks on the grip. (02-23396/BF). 3) BRITISH FRATERNAL. This sword is likely for a British fraternal organization or possibly a military organization. It measures 34 3/4" overall with a 29" blade. The plain blade is marked near the hilt "TOLEDO SPAIN." Gilded crossguard, showing the British arms on one side and crowned crossed arms on the other. The gilded pommel has a classical weapons motif with a monogram on the other side. Wire-wrapped composite grip. No scabbard. CONDITION: sword shows light wear overall. (02-23396/BF). 4) FRATERNAL OR THEATRICAL. An interesting sword measuring 41 1/2" overall with a 34" etched blade. The etching shows a plethora of foliate motifs, with a spray of arms on one side and another spray of arms on the opposite side with a central shield bearing the initials "PL" over "S." The hilt appears to be solid Britannia metal or possibly white brass. There is a large downturned guard with a bulbous pommel and a grip showing a nude Venus on both sides. No scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a dark patina but does not show oxidation. Hilt remains solid and lightly worn. (02-23396/BF). 5) KNIGHTS OF PYTHIAS. This sword has an overall length of 36 1/2" with a blade length of 28". The plain blade has a raised medial ridge and is marked near the hilt "MADE BY THE M.C. LILLY & CO COLUMBUS O." Plated brass hilt with ornate guard, showing Pythian motifs and a knight's head pommel. Wire-wrapped leather grip. Plated scabbard with silver-plated mounts. CONDITION: sword shows light wear overall. (02-23427/BF). $300-500.
