21” overall, 16” double edged spearpoint, 2.25" wide, .25” blade. The blade has profile and grind of many Confederate swords, but better quality mounted than most Confederate edged weapons and probably another maker, oval walnut grip with silver ferrule & pommel cap with lanyard ring. Leather sheath has brass throat which retains tooled brown leather attached belt loop with tongue, 2 ply leather construction sewn on one edge. CONDITION: very good to fine overall, blade retains much of its original polish and toolmarks, old sharpening, several small nicks in cutting edge, 4.5” reverse “C” crossguard has iron patina, long crack in burl of walnut grip. Sheath overall very good, missing layer of leather at tip and lower mount. PROVENANCE: Pictured on page 200 “Accoutrements IV” by Jim Johnston. (02-18171/JS). $3,000-4,500.
