Cal. 60. NSN. Bbl. 50" oct. smoothbore. Brass blade front sight. V-notch rear sight. Lock marked "W. KETLAND". Gun otherwise appears unmarked. Henry Mauger was a Berks County, PA based gunsmith who lived from 1750 until 1826. He was listed as gunsmith working between 1802 & 1805. Lock possibly reconverted to flint. Berks County, Pennsylvania form figured maple stock w/ brass furniture. Incised borders around lock assembly & sideplate. Fleur-de-lis around comb & upper tang. Brass patchbox w/ engraved single line border & raised convex lid. Blank silver oval disc on top of wrist. Brass finger curl trigger guard. Hardwood ramrod secured by brass thimble & two pipes. CONDITION: refinished stock w/ repaired & replaced forend. Stock otherwise shows a few chips, scattered dings & handling wear. Action is functional when hand cycled. Brass parts are a mellow patina w/ scattered oxidation & some dings. Balance of metal is a dark gray patina w/ some pitting on lock, a few dings & scattered oxidation. Pitted bore. (01-25186/MJC).
