Cal. 16 Ga 2 1/2". S#10. Bbl. 32 3/4". Bead front sight. U-notch rear sight. German Vogelschiessen rifle made for eagle shooting competitions in which a wooden bird would be shot on top of a pole. Bottom of barrel has Suhl "826" German Nitro proofs indicatin Aug. 1926 mfg. for "913" bullet. Rifle appears unmarked & built on an upscale 1871 Mauser action. Double set triggers with finger curl trigger guard. Checkered walnut stock set with left side cheekpiece & bottom mounted sling swivels. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: a sheet of paper describing the rifle & German eagle shooting competitions. CONDITION: stock has added varnish with some chipping around butt, scattered flaking varnish, dings & handling marks. Metal is a dull gray patina with a couple areas of moderate tool marks on bbl. & moderate oxidation throughout. Action functions properly when hand cycled. Good bright bore with strong rifling but a few notable patches of pitting & oxidation. (24-6955/MJC). CURIO. $1000-1500.
