POLICE LUGER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9mm Para. S# 3950y. Bbl. 4". P.08 Luger semi-automatic pistol, mfg. by Mauser in 1942 for police use. The bbl. extension is marked "1942" over the top of the chamber, with an Eagle/L police proof stamped on the right. Toggle is marked with the Mauser banner logo. Metal components exhibit a salt blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Bbl. extension is fitted with a sear safety. Standard blade front sight, with V-notch rear sight. Nearly all serialized parts are matching and include the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, safety lever & bar, hold-open latch, bbl. extension, trigger bar, breechblock, extractor, firing pin, as well as the toggles. Grips are unnumbered. Rear toggle pin and aluminum bottom mag. (S# 25v) are mismatched. MAGS: one 8-rd. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original arsenal salt blue finish, exhibiting light to mild edge wear and thinning overall. Grip straps exhibit mild to moderate wear and thinning that show through to a gray patina, as well as scattered spots of light surface oxidation. Light pitting is present on the sideplate, with mild to moderate pitting present on the frame beneath the grips. Very bright bore, exhibiting mild pitting along the edges of the lands while retaining well-defined rifling throughout. Grips show some smoothing and scattered impressions from handling and storage but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. (24-4095/MLW). CURIO. $1,200-2,000.
