PISTOL. Cal. 9mm Parabellum. S# 516969. Bbl. 5 3/8". C96 semi-automatic pistol originally mfg. by Mauser in 7.63x25mm Mauser and later professionally converted to 9x19mm Parabellum. Bbl. extension and frame exhibit standard factory markings, which have been enhanced at the time of conversion. Left side of the frame is marked "Made in Germany", with "9mm Parabellum" marked on the left side of the bbl. Metal components exhibit a reapplied blue finish overall, with the bolt and hammer being polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece contemporary grooved wood grips. Standard fixed blade front sight and tangent V-notch rear sight graduated 50-1000. Originally bbl. has been cut approx. 1 1/8" from the chamber and replaced with a new 9x19mm bbl. Nearly all serialized parts are matching, to include the frame (full S# on rear, last 3-digits on interior), floorplate, sub-frame, hammer, bbl. extension, locking block, as well as the bolt, with most numbers having been renumbered at the time of conversion. Locking block is mismatched via "2726". CONDITION: metal components retain the vast majority of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting some superficial handling marks, as well as some spots of light to mild pitting beneath the bluing (primarily in milled panels). In-the-white parts retain a bright appearance. Mirror bore, retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips are very good to excellent, exhibiting few superficial marks and small impressions. (26-2977/MLW). CURIO. $700-1,000.
