CONVERTED INTO "RED 9" CONFIGURATION. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 239752. Bbl. 5 1/2". Originally mfg. as a standard commercial C96 by Mauser, this example was subsequently rebored for the 9x19mm Parabellum cartridge and fitted with red "9" grips. The top of the faceted chamber is marked with Mauser's mfg. information, with the S# marked on the left quarter flat, a double crowned "U" commercial proof stamped on the left. Right side of the frame is marked with Mauser's mfg. information. Metal components exhibit a reapplied blue finish overall, save for on the bolt, which is polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece red "9" grips. Front sight has been modified and is now fitted with an aftermarket white beaded blade front sight. Tangent rear sight (graduated 50-1,000) has been modified from a V-notch to a square notch. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, floorplate, lock frame, hammer, sear, locking block, bbl. / bbl. extension, bolt, as well as the bolt stop. Grips are spuriously marked via the last 3-digits of the S# "752" on the interior of the panels. CONDITION: metal components retain bountiful amounts of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting a few spots of light wear and thinning, a few light superficial handling marks, as well as a few scattered spots of mild pitting beneath the bluing overall. Mirror bore, exhibiting strong recut rifling throughout. Grips show smoothing, as well as some scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable.
