BROOMHANDLE PISTOL. Cal. 7.63mm. S# 733861. Bbl. 5 1/4". Scarce transitional M1930 Commercial with 5.25" barrel and an early sub-frame and frame that has a thin front strap, as generally true for pistols in the 732,000-743,000 S# range. Fixed front sight and slip-in rear sight graduated from 50-1000. Short extractor, 2-lug firing pin, and solid head safety in concert with "NS" marked hammer. Top of chamber marked with 3-line Mauser address. Lightly haloed Crown C/C/U proof on left chamber flat. Full serial number on left side of bbl. extension. Left side of frame with the large Mauser banner. 2-line Mauser address on right frame. Between the trigger guard is the number "F2711" significance unknown. Broadly serrated grips. No lanyard ring. CONDITION: approx. 70% original salt blue, considerable cold blue touch up, the balance having gently faded to areas of gray, especially the front and rear straps that have associated oxidative etching. Dark oiled grips with a scattered of handling marks. Bright bore, slight oxidation, easily discernible rifling. Correct manual mechanics. The earliest and one of the most difficult to find 1930 Commercial variations. (25-3502/LMA). CURIO. $1,500-2,500.
