SHOULDER STOCK. Cal. 7.63mm. S# 32897. Bbl. 5 1/2". Standard, early production Large Ring Shallow Milled C96 with 5.5" barrel having a fixed front sight and slip-in 50-1,000 rear sight. Long extractor and a single-lug firing pin. The address is on top of the chamber, with the serial number on the left chamber flat. Crown/C/U mark on the left side of the barrel extension; antler proof on the right side. Left side of the frame is marked "VON LENGERKE/ & DETMOLD/ NEW-YORK". Usual 2-line Mauser address on the right side of frame. Small parts are fire-blued, except for the strawed trigger. Extensive disassembly shows all matching serial numbers, including the rear sight assembly, bolt stop, bolt, firing pin, hammer, subframe, locking lever, frame, follower, floorplate, small subframe components, and locking block. The frame is mounted with matching grooved wood grips and lanyard ring. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: accompanied by a later wartime era stock, likely for Red Nine as no hinge loop. Lug numbered "729". CONDITION: G-VG overall with original rust blue in association with general wear and oxidation discoloration, now with about 60% blue. Fire blued and strawed parts in the same general condition. Dark oil soaked grips with scattered handling marks. Dull bore with shallow rifling. Correct manual mechanics. Similar condition applies to stock whose hinge has a uniform patina, the lug having been reblued/touched up. (25-3499/LMA). CURIO. $3,000-4,500.
