HAVE FIXED SIGHTS & POLICE ISSUED. Cal. 7.63mm. S# 268005. This Mauser C96 started life as a Prewar Commercial, reworked after WWI to have a shorter 4" bbl. & a fixed rear sight. Marked 1920 & subsequently issued to the German Police. Short extractor, 2 lug firing pin, safety & hammer as per Prewar Commercial pistols. Chamber w/ usual Mauser legend & full S# on left chamber flat. Crown/"C"/"U" on left side of bbl. extension. Lg panel on left side of frame marked "1920". 2-Line Mauser address on right side of frame. Front strap w/ extensive Police markings: "To Erg. M. G. K. 18. A. K." Full S# on back of frame, last few digits repeated on all the usual parts including each of the finely serrated walnut grips. No lanyard ring. CONDITION: G-VG as partially refinished. The bbl. was recently cleaned, now largely in the white. The extractor is still fire blued; the bolt stop, safety & trigger are salt blued. Lightly revarnished grips w blunted serrations & scattered handling marks. Dull bore w/ easily discernable rifling. Perfect manual mechanics. An unusual Police rework still in 7.63 cal. (22-3172/LMA). CURIO. $1,250-1,850.
