1379 MAUSER LONG BARREL BOLO, HASH MARKED, STOCK.

Cal. 7.63mm S# 446982. This is a Mauser C96 as made shortly after WWI as the factory converted its short bbl. Bolos to pistols w/ a longer bbl, hiding the juncture w/ hash marks, found in the 445,000-448,000 S# range, this pistol having had those hash marks removed. Now w/ a 5.5" bbl, a pinned front sight mounted on a bbl band & a 50-1000 graded rear sight. Short extractor, 2 lug firing pin & small ring hammer. Usual Mauser address on chamber w/ full S# on left chamber flat, Crown /"C" /"U" on left side of bbl. extension, "GERMANY" marked on left mid frame panel as customarily applied to exported pistols. Right frame w/ 2 line Mauser address. Bolo wood grips. Lanyard ring absent. Disassembly shows all matching numbers except for an unnumbered follower (correct) & unnumbered grips (previous numbers having been removed). UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: accompanied by a later production "Mauser" banner stock, lug numbered "747". CONDITION: very good to excellent as partially restored, the restoration limited to the bbl./bbl. extension assembly & the extractor. Balance of pistol retains 92-95% rust blue, the sm. parts having comparable fire blue. Near excellent grips w/ oil staining & a scattering of dings. Stock & hinge have been refinished, the stock having a hairline crack through the lid release button, most of the fire blue on the lug having faded. Mirror bore. Perfect manual mechanics.
