PRODUCED IN 1946 UNDER FRENCH SUPERVISION. Cal. 8mm Mauser. S# 29643. Bbl. 23 3/4". All visible numbers match. These rifles were produced in the Mauser factory under French supervision and were given the French style sling mounting in the buttstock and hexagonal stacking rod underneath forward end of bbl. Receiver ring is marked on top "Mod. 98" "svw MB". Receiver ring marked on left side w/ French star proof. Bbl. is marked over chamber w/ "4D1131" & eagle "135" acceptance mark. Tangent rear sight graduated to 2,000 meters. Inverted V front sight w/ protective hood. Stamped upper & lower bands retain by screws. Stamped trigger guard & floorplate. Unmarked walnut stock & laminated handguard. Stock has sling bar at left side of butt. Transverse disassembly hole & cup type buttplate. Stock also has mortice for German style sling. CONDITION: stock has moderate wear, scratches & handling marks. Metal retains 70% blue finish w/ thinning, wear turning gray w/ scattered handling marks. Plum color extractor. Very good shiny bore.
