Cal. 270 Win. S# 5763bb. Bbl. 22 3/16 light sporter with Williams Streamline ramp having red fiber optic bead; vintage steel Lyman 57 SME receiver sight. Top of barrel marked ""BENNETT GUN WORKS DELMAR, N.Y." plus "270" on shank area. Bottom of barrel marked "473" and "10 52" (Oct. 1952?). Custom Sporter built on 98a Carbine small ring action; Imperial proofed but no marking over chamber (nor date) so possibly Model 98AZ. Numerous letter proofs behind recoil lug with "YY" being most noticeable. Lightweight stock set with straight comb, raised cheek piece, rosewood forend tip, 4 panels of checkering, QD sling studs, checkered black plastic grip cap and checkered Bishop style black plastic buttplate having stock evenly proud; 13 1/2" LOP. Glass bedded behind recoil lug only, plus "SUPERIOR" on flat area behind lug location. Buehler safety, G&H style side mount base, push button added for floor plate release, standard 2 stage trigger, bottom of reshaped bolt handle has knob flattened and checkered (normal) plus follower altered to close on empty chamber. Triggerguard assembly and bolt release are matching numbered; bolt shroud numbered "53". CONDITION: good to very good appearance having light stock handling marks plus 2 hairline cracks; 1 behind top tang (3/4") and at left front side of triggerguard (3/16", both should be attended to before they "grow"). Minimal finish on trigger guard assembly. All screws except on receiver sight have slot damage. Distinct bronze tone on bolt shroud and cocking piece. Slight plum hue to barrel. Near excellent bore.
