BOLT ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 9.3X62. S# 112506. Bbl. 23.62" with banded ramped bead front sight and optional 50-1,000 meter tangent rear sight plus banded 7/8" sling swivel. Mfg. September 1905 with round barrel and highly desirable double square bridged receiver having fine checkered patterns on tops of bridges. Mauser markings on solid (no thumb slot for clip charging) left side of receiver are completely forward rather than centered. Additional piece of metal on right side of receiver immediately behind bolt root to prevent bolt wobble when bolt is fully retracted. Bolt shroud has long cocking piece; pear shaped bolt knob on turned down handle. Matching numbers on: barrel channel of stock, recoil lug inside stock, hinged floor plate (internally), trigger guard at back of magazine box, barrel, extractor, ejector, safety, bolt shroud and bolt root also having Crown BU proof. Right side of buttstock has "2333" stamped with the 3 after 2 being reversed; purpose of number unknown. Stock has slight schnabel profile, straight comb with raised cheek piece, grip cap, Mauser banner on checkered hard rubber buttplate, 7/8" swivel in butt area plus checkering only on pistol grip. Crown BUG proofs on barrel and action along with Crown N nitro proofs. Underside of barrel also has "9.3-360" indicating caliber and bore diameter. Also marked "Ch 50" on bottom of barrel. Hinged floorplate with serrated release inside trigger guard. Single trigger of 2 stage military style. CONDITION: very good overall as restored being fully blued other than for sight scale. Areas of fading and light peppery oxidation plus function wear on bolt assembly. Handling marks on stock set plus finish loss on recoil bolt ends. Especially good checkering. Minor chips on buttplate. Near excellent, bright bore. (25-504/NW). CURIO. $2,500-3,500.
