Cal. 8X60. S# 106879. Bbl. 19.69" (500mm) with banded ramped hooded inverted "V" front sight and optional 50-200 meter tangent rear sight. Mfg. February 1940 with round barrel and military style commercial receiver having finely checkered front bridge and added claw mount bases. Mauser markings on left side of receiver are fully forward due to thumb slot for clip charging. Bolt shroud has standard length cocking piece; butter knife bolt handle. Matching numbers on: barrel channel of stock, barrel, extractor, ejector, safety, bolt shroud and bolt root also having faint Crown BU proof. Mannlicher stock has straight comb with raised cheek piece, grip cap, Mauser banner on trapdoor steel buttplate, 7/8" swivel in butt area, matching swivel on forend, metal forend cap plus checkering on pistol grip and wrap around checking just forward of the action. Crown BUG proofs on barrel and action. Underside of barrel also has "8X60", "Ch 26", "7,85" and "8,1". Hinged lever release floorplate numbered 60 (inside at rear); trigger guard numbered 97260 (on back of magazine box). Single 2 stage trigger of military style. CONDITION: good to very good overall being fully blued other than sight scale. Areas of fading and light peppery oxidation plus light function wear on bolt assembly. Numerous handling marks on stock set plus finish loss on buttplate. Very good grip area checkering; 3 or 4 slight marks in forend checkering. Light patina on front swivel and even moderate oxidation on rear swivel. Near excellent, bright bore. (25-505/NW). CURIO. $2,500-3,500.
