Cal. 8.15x46. S# 20341. Bbl. 24". Blade front sight. Rear sight base is slotted for hood. Adjustable rear sight graduated to 300m. Mauser Oberndorf-made Wehrmanngewehr (Serviceman's Target Rifle) used by the Austrian Tirolean Shooting Guild, or T.S.T.V. Matching numbers on receiver, bbl., bolt release, rear sight sight leaf, and bolt parts. Bands and front action screw are mismatched. Other visible parts are unnumbered, including the extractor. Front receiver ring has an Austrian eagle with a German party symbol and T.S.T.V. marking. Rear top of receiver has Mauser banner. Left side of receiver has "BUGN" commercial proofs. Blued finish with bolt & extractor cleaned to bright. Band keeper has a strawed appearance. Walnut stock wet with duffel cut under rear band. Stock has rear bottom-mounted sling swivel and left side front swivel. CONDITION: stock set appears to have a lightly added oil finish with some scattered handling marks. Bolt body shows some scattered oxidation and dried grease. Balance of metal retains 95% commercial-grade reblue with scattered fading, handling marks, and some edge wear. Action is full of grease but functions properly when hand cycled. Bright, near excellent bore. PROVENANCE: the estate collection of Charles Wagner. (24-4637/MJC). CURIO. $1,500-2,500.
