RIFLE. Cals. 32 CF & 28 Ga. S# 12345. Assembled three bbl. set. Case hardened action w/ center mounted hammer & firing pin. Tang mounted Vernier sight. Straight grip walnut stock w/ steel buttplate. Bbl. No. 1: Original bbl. numbered to gun. Cal. 32 Short CF. 26" round. Bead front sight w/ fixed V notch fear sight. Case colored lever. Bbl. No. 2: Non-matching S# 22304. Cal. 32 Long CF. 20 3/4” w/ checkered forearm. Front sight dovetail is open. Rear sight dovetail is filled w/ a blank. Nickel finished lever. Bbl. No. 3: Renumbered to match gun, original number was 21718. Cal. 28 Ga opened to 2 3/4”. 26” w/ small semicircular front sight. Case colored lever. Large but unknown quantities mfg. 1860s-1890. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: shooter made wooden box w/ green cloth fitted interior having straps to secure rifle & bbls. 1 leather handle is detached. Case contains a catalogue titled “THE MAYNARD” describing Maynard rifle styles. First page shows a Holyoke, MASS printer’s address w/ original date of 1880. CONDITION: very fine. Receiver retains over 60% lightly faded case colors. Stock has worn finish w/ scratches & marks. Bbl. no. 1 has over 90% original blue showing small scratches & marks. Rifling is lightly worn. Bbl. no. 2 has a glued chip along left side of forearm & retains 95% reblued finish, bore retains sound rifling. Bbl. no. 3 has over 90% provisional blue showing small spots of corrosion. Bore is generally bright showing some very light pitting. (01-22989/DS). ANTIQUE. $2,750-3,750.
