CARBINE. Cal. 50. S# 14349. Bbl. 20" round with octagon shank. Blade front sight with two folding leaf rear sight. Case colored lever operated break open action with center mounted hammer. Left side has saddle ring and bar. Left bbl. flat has “G. W. S” cartouche. Walnut stock with crescent steel buttplate. Left side has two sharp cartouches. About 20,202 mfg. 1863-65. Cavalry units armed with these included the 9th and 11th Indiana and the 11th Tennessee. CONDITION: fine. Bbl. retains 90% original blue. Action has over 90% age darkened case colors. Original stock finish shows scattered marks and small dents. Bore is bright with strong rifling showing a few small spots of pitting. (01-21971/DS). ANTIQUE. $2,500-3,500.
