Cal. 22 S, L, LR. S# 11658. Both sides of action have factory engraving. Right side vignette features squirrels. Left side vignettes features rabbits. Balance of receiver sides have vine type foliate scroll engraving w/ punch dot backgrounds & straight line borders. The action features a top tang safety & right side slide release. 24" oct. bbl. w/ blade front sight & adj. U notch rear sight. Tubular mag. Sm. rnd. tapered forearm & straight grip stock of nicely grained walnut feature a crescent steel buttplate & point pattern hand checkering. The Meriden Fire Arms Co. produced firearms in Meriden, CT. from 1905-1918. The company was formed when Sears, Roebuck & Co. purchased the Andrew Fryeburg & Son Firearms Mfg. plant & moved the machinery to Meriden. The company's firearms were sold through the Sears catalogue as well as other retailers. The Meriden Model 15 slide action rifle was introduced in the fall of 1912 & is based on Savage patents. This design was later mfg. by Savage & known as the Model 29. CONDITION: bbl. & action retain over 85% original blue, showing edge & carry wear. Original wood finish shows light wear & sm. marks.
