ARMY REVOLVER, PEARL GRIPS. Cal. 44. S# 4032. Standard configuration, 7" barrel, integral pinched semi rounded front sight. 6 shot scoop fluted cylinder, nickel, 2 piece smooth mother of pearl grips. These large frame SA revolvers are the scarcest of "Old West" pistols competing with Colt SAA & S&W in late 1870s. This example has the look of seeing use with original pair of pearl grips. CONDITION: fair to good overall, about 90% old nickel finish, markings weak, grips well fit with edge wear and small chips. Missing sliding button on bottom of frame to release barrel, and missing lanyard stud on butt. Mechanics need attention, cylinder rotates partially when cocked, will not hold full cock. Good discernible rifled bore. Right side of frame has a period inventory number CA00027, for unknown agency for Police Department. PROVENANCE: Martin Lane Historic & Western Americana Lifetime Collection. (01-24612/JS). ANTIQUE. $1,500-2,500.
