FRONTIER MODEL DOUBLE ACTION REVOLVER. Cal. 44-40. S# 19258. Bbl. 7". Large Frame Frontier Model double action revolver mfg. at the Hopkins & Allen Manufacturing Company in Norwich, Ct. Left side of the bbl. is marked "HOPKINS & ALLEN Manufacturing Co. Norwich, Conn. U.S.A." ("HOPKINS" is mostly illegible), with "MERWIN & HULBERT & Co. New York, U.S.A. Pat.Apr.17.77.June 15.80.Mar.14.82.Jan.9.83." marked across the top. Left side of the frame is marked "CALIBRE/ WINCHESTER", followed by "1873" (.44-40 W.C.F.). Metal components exhibit a nickel plated finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered brown hard rubber grips. Half-moon blade front sight, with V-notch rear sight. Butt is mounted with a lanyard loop. Matching assembly #s are present on the frame, slide, and bbl. CONDITION: metal components retain fair amounts of their original nickel plated finish, exhibiting wear, flaking, and scattered losses that show through to a gray patina. Fair bore, exhibiting areas of dark pitting and strong rifling throughout. Grips show age related discoloration, smoothing, and some scattered marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. (01-26226/MLW). ANTIQUE. $300-500.
