Cal. approx. 60. NSN. Bbl. 22 1/2". Joseph Guillaume Meyers of Liege, Belgium has numerous patents for firearms between the years 1866 & 1879. This is a rare example of a 6 shot, revolving cylinder, pinfire carbine that likely had military applications because of the 2 3/4" bayonet lug on the right side of the bbl. The frame is marked on the left side, in front of the cyl., “MEYERS BREVETE”. Both the cyl. & frame are heavily embellished w/ engraving. There is a fanciful trigger guard that encompasses a lg. trigger. The stock is checkered at the wrist & has leaf carving where it joins the frame. There is an iron buttplate & iron sling swivels. CONDITION: the bbl., as well as all other iron parts, has a medium gray mottled patina w/ evidence of cleaned, very light pitting. The mechanics of this carbine seem to operate well. The wooden stock likely has an old refinish. An exceptionally scarce & interesting gun. (01-19089/BF). ANTIQUE. $6,000-7,500.
