RIFLE. Cal. .22 LR. S# 101991A. Bbl. 23". Beautifully upgraded rifle adorned w/ fine hand engraving & 3 color gold & silver inlays. Oval vignettes on receiver sides feature gold & silver inlaid eagles w/ silver inlaid mountains & trees in the backgrounds. The scenes are surrounded by vine type foliate engraving w/ stippled backgrounds having 2 color inlaid borders. Complimenting engraving extends to the receiver top, bottom, tang, forend cap, muzzle end of bbl. & steel buttplate. The engraver's signature "M. Courant" is found on the bottom of the receiver above the gold inlaid serial number. Michel Courant was a European engraver. According to internet information, he once worked w/ the famed master engraver Angelo Bee. Quarter rib mounted express rear sight features 3 folding & 1 standing leaf. White bead front sight is mounted on a stippled ramp. Custom stock & widely flared forearm of fancy walnut have hand checkering & Winchester grip cap. The tubular mag. inserts through the engraved steel buttplate & loads through the right side of the stock. Mfg. 1951. CONDITION: near excellent as upgraded. Wood & metal retain 99% finish.
