FOR THE TOURIST TRADE. Cal. 70. S# NSN. The 24" octagon barrel is unmarked and attaches to the stock with two thin sheet metal brass bands that have raised punch and slot decoration. The miquelet-style lock with an external spring is old and is embellished with inlaid brass plates that show semi-relief engraving of leaves and vines. Stock, of rosewood, extends to muzzle and has chamfered butt ending in heavy brass buttplate. There is no trigger guard. Ball triggers and all mounting screws go through floral escutcheons. There is an embroidered leather protective tab tacked to the left side of the lock. This gun was probably put together in the early 20th century. CONDITION: fine. Brass is well toned. Wood with a smooth original finish. Lock is also toned and shows some wear. Bore is shiny. Mechanically good. (01-24661/MGM). ANTIQUE. $1,500-2,000.
