HORSLEY OF METAMORA, INDIANA. Cal. approx. 40. NSN. Bbl. 37" oct. w/ V-notch rear & silver bead front sights is dbl. stamped "J. HORSLEY" & w/ 3 link chain on either side along w/ "1856" w/ some stars & another 000 chain. Back spring lock w/ flat faced hammer is also stamped w/ maker's name, date, 3 0's & 3 stars. Walnut stock has brass crescent buttplate w/ 3" German silver return. Brass trigger guard has finger spur on bow & at rear of grip. Stock is decorated w/ fancy star shaped tacks along toeline & on either side of forend which also has heart shaped tacks behind pewter nose cap. An old ramrod w/ fancy tip is held by 2 plain pipes on underrib. CONDITION: fair to good, iron parts w/ deep black rusted patina. Brass shows extensive cleaning, stock w/ old finish. Fair bore w/ strong rifling. Triggers set & lock is operable. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of Gary Parietti. (01-19033/MGM). ANTIQUE. $500-700.
