SA REVOLVER NOTED IN NOVEMBER 2006 ARTICLE IN THE GUN REPORT. Cal. 32 RF Long. S# 61206. In the article "Some Early Smith and Wesson Export Revolvers" by Robert M. Bricker, this revolver is noted in the article. The article states "Following the Civil War, Smith and Wesson became much more active in selling their wars overseas. In 1868 fairly large groups of both Model Number 1, Second Issue and Model Number 2 Armys seem to have reached Japan. According to Roy G. Jinks, Smith and Wesson's resident historian, these were probably first shipped to their French Agent in Paris, Charles May, and from there sent on to Japan...Another Number 2 export, which left the factory in late 1868 with serial number 61206, is marked on the right hand barrel flat near the frame "2 thousand 9078", then somewhat faded from wear, "Mie Prefecture" The octagon 6" barrel has rib w/ mfg. markings & German silver blade front sight. 6 Shot round cylinder with assembly # "229". Two piece rosewood grips w/ matching numbered on back of right panel. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: copy of the Nov. 2006 The Gun Report article. CONDITION: metal has gray patina appearance w/ faint traces of polish blue finish showing wear to markings, marks, cleaned pitting & scratches. Good grip panel with large crack on back of right panel, along with scattered marks. Very good bore. (01-24966/MD). ANTIQUE. $800-1,500.
