Cal. 58 RF. S# 656 (on breech block). Cartridge conversion of Parker's Snow & Co. 1861 Rifle-Musket to rimfire under the name Meriden; mfg. 1865-1867. This rifle has been converted to a Cadet style with cut down barrel measuring 29.25" & standard musket sights. 1864 Dated Parkers' Snow lock. Cut down 2 barrel band walnut musket stock w/ musket furniture; missing ramrod. CONDITION: metal has cleaned appearance with traces of brown patina with scattered corrosion throughout. Locks appears mechanically fine; extractor periodically binds preventing locking of breech block. Wood has poor worn finish with large crack in front of lock & large break at bottom buttplate screw hole. Bore shows strong rifling & shine along with pitting near muzzle.
