Cal. 54, NSN. Standard configuration 1817 "common rifle", 36" barrel. Lock is marked "US / S. NORTH" and "MIDLTN / CONN / 1826" at tail. Breech is inspection stamped "US / ET / P". All iron mounted including horizontally hinged oval tool box, unique design triggerguard with sling swivel on end of rear curl. Even as reconversion these early American martial rifles are scarce. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: old auction tag from Carrolton, Ohio. CONDITION: good overall as reconverted from percussion. Good markings in metal. Mottled gray iron patina with pitting. Stock has repaired break above wrist. Mechanics are fine, no discernible rifling, but bore still measures .54". (01-25113/JS). ANTIQUE. $1,200-1,500.
