Cal. 56-60. S# 34073. Bbl. 33". Standard configuration of a rifle made 1865-1869 which many saw service in the Indian wars. S# on left side of breech w/ out "C". Frame numbered on the tail. “MODEL 1865” & 4 line address “SPENCER REPEATING RIFLE / PAT’D MARCH 6 1860 / MANUF’D AT PROV. R.I. / BY BURNSIDE RIFLE CO” on top of frame. The main difference between 1860 & 1865 models externally are the plumb fit hammer face & Stabler device which allowed for single shot use w/ out extraction. CONDITION: very good overall, complete & matching. Markings in metal are very good. Stocks are sound as refinished. Buttstock has lg. putty repair rear of frame. Single cartouche is visible in outline. Mechanically fine including stabler device. Bore is clean w/ discernible rifling. (01-19371/JS). ANTIQUE. $1,500-2,000.
