SN 2221 Cal. 41. Standard brass frame configuration of the 5th variation of Moore derringers, 2.5" blued ovoid barrel marked on top "MOORE'S PAT. F. A. CO. BROOKLYN, NY" and "D. MOORE'S PAT. FEB. 24, 1863" on bottom, half round German silver front sight, engraved arrow and star on either side of barrel and about 25% coverage arabesque scroll engraving. Doug Eberhart in his most recent text on Moore, National, and Colt derringers states that this blue and silver combination is only seen on 10-15% of survivors. CONDITION: barrel retains tiny trace of blue finish, balance gray/brown patina, frame retains about 20% of its silver plate. Mechanically fine, good rifled bore. (01-25300/JS). ANTIQUE. $600-800.
