Cal. 41 RF. S# 3080. Bbl. 2 1/2" Mfg. 1860-1865 as standard model with continuation by National Arms Co. from 1865-1870; total of 6,000 units equally divided by both companies. First large caliber derringer using metallic cartridge that was also all metal; silver plated with brass frame. Button released barrel twists sideways to load; S# on barrel. Later production model with spur trigger bottom slanting away from grip. Just after 1870, Colt hired National workmen and continued the derringer with the Colt name having some design improvements. Company markings on top flat of barrel along with brass blade sight; patent marking on bottom. Nice decorative engraving (standard) throughout. CONDITION: good appearance with grey tone to barrel and notable areas of brass showing on frame. Tight, well fitted barrel to frame. Fair pitted bore with distinct rifling. (01-22154/NW).
