WESTERN SAA REVOLVERS.
Cals. 45 Colt. S#s. GW46 & GW47. Audi Murphy was among the most decorated soldiers of WWII. The honors bestowed upon him including the Medal of Honor, Distinguished Service Cross and many other U.S. decorations as well as the Legion of Honor and several other medals from the French government. After the war, he became a popular movie star, screenwriter and producer starring in at least 48 movies. This cased pair of low S# revolvers were presented to Audi in 1954 by William R. Wilson, the owner of Great Western Firearms. Shortly after Audi’s death in 1972, his widow sold them to an LA police detective. The guns remained in his family for 50 years before being sold again in 2022. Great Western Arms Company, formerly of Los Angeles CA (1954-1964) produced a high quality copy of the Colt model P western style revolver. Bbls. 7 1/2”. Six shot fluted cyls. Blue and case colored finishes. 2 Piece synthetic stag grips. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: these desirable revolvers are housed in their original wood presentation case. The fitted purple velour interior also contains six nickel plated dummy cartridges. Also included is Audi’s custom 2 gun western style black leather belt and holster rig. A ring binder contains important documentation & history as well as a DVD of one of Audi’s most famous movies “To Hell And Back”. Information in the binder consists of a list of his 48 movies & extensive list of his military medals and decorations. The following 4 pages are a statement of facts about these revolvers and their ownership. Photocopies of a newspaper article and pictures of Audi with the guns are included. Following pages have color photos of the guns, presentation case and holster rig. CONDITION: both very fine. (S# GW46) Metal retains over 98% original finish showing light drag lines on cyl. Left grip handle has a small chip at heel. Smooth mechanics. Near excellent bore. (S# GW47) 98% Original finish showing drag lines on cyl. with small spots on barrel near the muzzle.
